Our commitment
Most of our students are children, and every class is one adult and one child on a video call. That arrangement is what makes the teaching work, and it is also the arrangement that carries the most risk. We would rather describe our safeguards plainly than let families assume they exist.
No child should ever be alone in an unsupervised, unrecorded, unaccountable space with an adult. Everything below exists to make sure that never happens here.
How teachers are vetted
- Identity verified against government-issued ID before any teaching
- Qualifications and ijazah chains checked with the issuing teacher or institution, not just accepted on paper
- Background check appropriate to the country the teacher works from, re-run every [NUMBER] years
- Two professional references taken up directly, including from a previous teaching role where one exists
- A written safeguarding agreement every teacher signs before their first class
A teacher who cannot complete any of these does not teach here, regardless of how qualified they are or how short-staffed we are that month.
How classes are run
- Classes happen only on the academy’s own scheduled video link, never on a teacher’s personal account
- Parents and guardians may join, watch or sit in on any class, at any time, without asking in advance
- Classes can be recorded on request, and recordings are available to the parent
- Teachers never contact a child directly — all messages go through the parent or the academy
- No teacher asks a child for personal details, photographs, social media contact or anything outside the lesson
- Teaching takes place from an appropriate, non-private setting with the teacher visible
What parents can always do
You never need a reason to check on your child’s class. You can join a lesson unannounced, ask for a recording, request a different teacher, or ask us anything about who is teaching your child and what has been verified about them.
Asking any of these will never be treated as an accusation or affect how your child is taught. A family that checks is doing exactly the right thing.
What we teach children about online safety
- A teacher will never ask you to keep a secret from your parents
- A teacher will never message you anywhere except through your parent
- You can leave a class at any moment, for any reason, and tell an adult at home
- Nothing you say about a class will get you into trouble
Reporting a concern
If something about a class worries you — anything at all, including something you cannot put your finger on — tell us. You do not need evidence and you do not need to be sure.
Contact [SAFEGUARDING LEAD NAME], our designated safeguarding lead, at [SAFEGUARDING EMAIL]. If you would rather not use email, message the academy WhatsApp number and ask to speak to the safeguarding lead; you will not be asked to explain why to anyone else first.
If a child is in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services first. Tell us afterwards — we will act on it, but your local authorities can act faster.
What happens after you report
- We acknowledge your report within one working day
- The teacher is suspended from teaching all children while the concern is looked into, not just your child
- The safeguarding lead investigates and keeps a written record
- We tell you the outcome and what we have done about it
- Where there is any reason to, we report to the relevant authorities in the teacher’s country and yours
Suspension during an investigation is not a judgement about the teacher. It is simply what has to happen while a concern is open.
Keeping this current
